But in the present day where animal hunting for leather is prohibited, various alternatives are used. Artificial leather, plastics, fiber and some other made stuffs are used to make shoes these days. The shape of the shoes has also changed. Today, shoes are manufactured based on the details of the user.

Today’s regular shoe has three parts. The sole, body of the shoe and shoe lace. The sole is the bottom most part of the shoe. It holds the shoe intact. The density and strength of the sole material is greater when compared to the body of the shoe because of the need to withstand weights and friction caused against the ground. The body comprises of the remaining part of the shoe. The shoelace is used to tighten the grip of the shoe to the feet when it is worn.

Shoe or footwear is an item used to protect the human feet. It is basically used to avoid damage to the feet while walking on the ground. It is made from strong materials to withstand the pressure and friction caused while walking on the ground. Though it can withstand up to a certain point, suitable care have to be taken so that it can last much longer.

Shoe maintenance must be done timely so that it remains intact. Shoe gets damaged quickly due to harsh use and other factors. The main problem is the shoe getting worn out. This happens due to prolonged use or when the shoe is hit against sharp objects when walking. To avoid this, care must be taken while walking so as not to hit such sharp objects. If in any case a tear is developed on the shoe, it must quickly be repaired before the tear gets larger.

Any damage to the sole cannot be repaired and have to be replaced. Apart from the damage part, shoe must be kept clean so that formation of germs can be avoided. So a shoe must be wiped clean externally daily and from the inside once in a few days. Shoe polish must be used to keep it clean and good looking. A shoe must not be soaked in water because most of the shoe today is made of leather. This is because leather develops fungi formation and gets torn when it is dipped in water.

There are some shoes that are made from plastics and other synthetic materials to withstand water. Such shoes must be worn in rainy seasons. If a shoe is soaked in water, it should be allowed to dry in sunlight. Otherwise it would develop a horrible smell that would be very hard to withstand.

The body makes up the remaining part of the shoe and the shoelace tightens the grip between the shoe and the leg. Unlike slippers, they cannot be detached easily without untying the lace.

The shoes worn by most women are different when compared to the regular laced footwear. These shoes will be made of synthetic materials and will not have a shoelace. Instead it has a large space in it when the leg fits.
